Bill Gates: "The objective is zero"

Bill Gates is an American business magnate and is chairman of Microsoft. He is consistently ranked among the world's wealthiest people and was the wealthiest overall from 1995 to 2009, excluding 2008, when he was ranked third. During his career at Microsoft, Gates held the positions of CEO and chief software architect, and remains the largest individual shareholder.

In the later stages of his career, Gates has pursued a number of philanthropic endeavors, donating large amounts of money to various charitable organizations and scientific research programs through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, established in 2000.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest transparently operated private foundation in the world, founded by Bill and Melinda Gates. The foundation is "driven by the interests and passions of the Gates family". The primary aims of the foundation are, globally, to enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty, and in America, to expand educational opportunities and access to information technology.

In the video Bill Gates is talking about his foundation and the objective of reduce the global warming. The aim isn’t reduce a little the emission of CO2 , “The objective is zero”. 

To get his objective Bill Gates propose an equation:

CO2 = P x S x E x C

P = people

S = services for person

E = energy per service

C = CO2 per unit energy

1) He proposes reduce the population between 10-15 %  .

2) It’s fine that the number of services increase but these services have to arrive to everybody.

3) Nowadays the energy use is falling due to technological improvements.

4) But these three points are not enough to get “The objective zero”.

CO2 per unit energy is the key factor, we have to create a new system, an energetic miracle.

In my opinion the Bill Gates’ theory is impossible to realize.

In first time the population can’t be reduced from one day to another.

Then, we have to work a lot because everybody can enjoy of the same services.

Currently technology to reduce the pollution is improving, but is very far to pollution zero.

And finally to create a new system is very difficult, there are many scientists that they are working in find one but for the moment we can only wait.

Warren Buffet

In the video appears the legendary investor Warren Buffett for MBA students at the University of Florida.

Warren Buffet is an American investor, industrialist and philanthropist. He is widely regarded as one of the most successful investors in the world. Often called the "legendary investor”. He is the primary shareholder, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. He is consistently ranked among the world's wealthiest people. He was ranked as the world's wealthiest person in 2008 and is the third wealthiest person in the world as of 2011.

Conference is about “Value investing”, Value investing is an investment paradigm that derives from the ideas on investment and speculation that Ben Graham & David Dodd began teaching at Columbia Business School in 1928 and subsequently developed in their 1934 text: “Security Analysis”. Although value investing has taken many forms since its inception, it generally involves buying securities whose shares appear underpriced by some form of fundamental analysis.

Warren Buffett have argued that the essence of value investing is buying stocks at less than their intrinsic value. The intrinsic value is the discounted value of all future distributions.

However, the future distributions and the appropriate discount rate can only be assumptions. For the last 25 years, Warren Buffett has taken the value investing concept even further with a focus on "finding an outstanding company at a sensible price" rather than generic companies at a bargain price.

In my opinion Warren Buffett is one of the best investors in the world because he has been known to invest in the correct place and in the exactly moment. He only invests in products that he knows his performance, so he doesn’t tie up in new technologies due to he doesn’t understand his operation and he thinks that it isn’t correct invest in anything that you can’t control. 

If we follow his advice, we will invest in operations that we know about the topic and his environment because if we don’t control the situation, somebody can cheat us and it isn’t the objective if we want be billionaire.
